FAQ's
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Postage and Shipping
Q) How long does it take to receive my order?
Because most of our parts are made-to-order to your specifications, we rarely have 'off the shelf' items to dispatch immediately. Flat trims (door trims, interior trims and engine bay trims) are usually dispatched within 10 days. Bonnets, wings and other moulded parts can take 2-3 weeks. Once dispatched, delivery within mainland UK is next-day. International orders can take 2-6 days for delivery.
Q) I have a race / show / important event to attend, and need these bits quicker, can you do a quick turn-around?
Depending on how busy the workshop is at any given time, we may be able to push important parts through quicker. Please call on these occasions to discuss how we can help.
Q) What happens if my order is lost or damaged by the courier in transit?
We always send items using insured and tracked methods, so there's no risk to you at all. Just let us know about the problem immediately and we'll arrange for a new part to be sent in exchange as soon as possible.
Cutting/modifying carbon fibre parts at home
Q) Can carbon fibre be cut and whats the best way to do it?
Yes, cutting carbon fibre and other composite materials (kevlar and fibreglass) is usually no problem, following this advice. You can use regular workshop tools to cut our composites (jig-saws, grinders, drills, files) but these tools do blunt after a while. We use diamond cutting bits which last for years, or grit/abrasive bits which last longer than toothed metal bits. Dremils and high-speed rotary tools are ideal, especially for detailed work. A selection of tools and bits are available to buy on this site.
Cutting and shaping composties will often leave a rough edge (especially if you're using metal cutting bits). We recommend that you leave the part around 1mm over-sized with the first cut, then finish with 240+ grit sandpaper to leave a smooth edge.
One-offs
Q) The part that I'm looking for isn't listed on your website, can you still help?
If its something that there would be alot of demand for (e.g. a bonnet for a popular tuner-car) then we're often prepaired to take on the first order if you're happy to allow extra turn-around time for production moulds to be made. The prices we offer in these instances are generally a little more than similar products that we already carry moulds for. If you can supply a brand new, original part for us to mould from, we can often bring the price down a little. Taking on work on this basis depends entirely on how busy we are in the workshop with other projects. See also 'group buys' below.
If the part is something with less mass-appeal, or even something you'd like exclusively, we're still ready to help. We have to charge for production moulding to be made as well as for the unit itself, so prices are quite high for one-off. (The moulds for a one-off bonnet would typically be around £1500 for example). Moulding is a one-off process, and so ordering in quantity can quickly bring down over-all unit costs. See also 'group buys' below.
Group-buys
Q) The part I'm looking for isn't listed on your website, but there's a number of us wanting the same item, can you help?
Absolutely. Group-buys can bring a new product to the market, while keeping costs well below what you'd expect for a one-off. We usually require a minimum of 5 parts to be ordered for us to take-on the production moulding/tooling costs, but this can vary depending on the part and its mass-appeal. Please call or email to discuss.
Q) A group of us (in a club or forum) want to buy the same item from you, can you offer any discount?
Yes, selling in quantity keeps our costs down, so we can pass these savings on to you. An order for 5 or more of any part we already produce will usually qualify for 10% discount. 10 or more parts will qualify for 15%. Please call or email to discuss.
Q) Can a group of us combine our orders to save on postage / shipping costs?
Yes, please call to discuss.
Carbon effect and 'covering'
Q) Can you cover original parts in carbon?
No. We only make light-weight parts that save weight. Although we appreciate that alot of people are only after the look of carbon fibre, our passion is for making cars FASTER!
Q) Can you paint or stick-on something to give the carbon fibre weave effect?
No. Please don't waste our time, we're busy making parts for much faster cars..
Sponsorship?
Not usually. Most of our customers have high-end race or show cars, thats just who we are and what we do. But if you fit one of our products and get some decent media and show coverage, we'd be happy to talk about discounts in the future.
