Lightweight composite roof skin for the mk1 VW Golf.
Save weight by removing the sheet steel (including sunroof) from your cars roof, and drastically lower you cars centre of gravity. A solution to removing the sunroof from a track/race car and to gain access for a weld-in roll cage without the need to re-paint or for welding. The carbon skin weighs 3.2kg - nearly a third the weight of the original sheet steel, and can easily remove an additional 10kgs off if replacing an electric sunroof.
The carbon fibre is finished in a high-gloss clear coat, showing off the 2x2 twill carbon fibre weave, (3k, aerospace grade). Vacuum bagged and resin-infused, to ensure zero air bubbles and the lightest possible part.
The fibreglass is finished in a high-gloss black.
Both of these roof skins can be painted if required.
